A Lifelong Sisterhood

A lot of times, when a person graduates a rehabilitation or recovery program, no one follows up with them. When the group is over, the relationships are over. This is not the case at Cry Freedom Missions. Our team nurtures survivors on their path to healing, and we do this through relationship building.

Chicken and Chocolate

“I always say that chicken and chocolate start conversations,” said Beverly Weeks, CEO of Cry Freedom Missions.

During our hotel outreach, our case management team looks specifically for human trafficking victims and pregnant women who may be lacking prenatal care and resources. We first meet their physical needs, providing them with things like toiletries, baby items, food, and our 24-hour hotline number (919-988-9262).

Our hope is that through meeting the physical needs first, we can start a conversation that will then lead to a genuine relationship with them.

A Heart Exposed

Oftentimes, the individuals we meet in hotels end up in jail for one reason or another. We see this as an opportunity to deepen our relationship with them away from their trafficker, drug dealer, or abuser.

We take the time to get to know these ladies. Who is she? Where did she come from? Does she have children? What are her passions and desires and goals? What situation is she in, and does she want help? Through this relationship building, hearts are exposed. And when hearts are exposed, we see the deep wounds that lie under the surface.

If she wants help, we work with the individual and all professional personnel necessary to get her to our safe house once she leaves jail. We provide health screenings, trauma and substance abuse counseling, job readiness training, and continual support as she begins to heal from those deep wounds.

Fostering A Positive Recovery

We want to share to each and every woman that she has value, she is worthy in the sight of God, and she is so loved. Our hotel outreach, jail outreach, and safe house are a means to something much deeper and much more profound: a lifelong sisterhood.
