Statement release to address the recent allegations against Cry Freedom Missions.

Cry Freedom Missions, a ministry of Wayne Pregnancy Center, exists to reach, rescue, and restore survivors of human trafficking, exploitation, and trauma. Our programs are rooted in the belief that without heart change, there is no life change. This faith-based foundation is central to all that we do, and we stand firmly and unashamedly on the principles upon which this ministry was built.

While some may misunderstand or even disagree with our approach, we will continue to focus on the transformational work God is doing through His ministry and invite our community to join us in prayer and support as we move forward.

The Truth About Our Program

● All of our services are provided completely free of charge to participants and their families.

● Clients complete an intake process, and our case management team carefully reviews each application. If eligible, applicants receive a thorough explanation of the program, policies, expectations, and available supports before choosing to enter.

● As a faith-based program, residents attend church services together. While participation in faith activities is encouraged, it is never forced; and for safety and accountability, residents travel together as a group during outings.

● Residents agree to use safe contacts to communicate with while in the program, they are pre-approved upon entry, to support healthy boundaries and safety.

● Our team encourages residents to be mindful of the media they consume, knowing that triggers can vary based on their personal trauma history.

● Each resident receives a daily structured schedule including group therapy, art therapy, individual therapy, evidence-based curriculum, continued education, and vocational training. Vocational training is one part of their program, designed to build confidence, responsibility, and job skills as part of holistic recovery.

● Our shoppes are fully staffed to operate independently and are not reliant on residents for operation.

● Our vocational training model is similar to other well-respected faith-based recovery programs. This component helps foster personal responsibility, decision-making skills, and long-term growth while ensuring residents can transition to independent living successfully.

● Our Main Shoppe downtown opened in 2019 and required additional staff and overhead costs to operate, hence increased revenues. This growth allowed us to create more vocational training opportunities and expand our reach to continue to empower victims of human trafficking, exploitation and trauma.

● From the very start, we prioritize helping each resident apply for health insurance, obtain IDs, and connect with appropriate medical and mental health care. We believe healing must be approached holistically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically.

We deeply value our volunteers, donors, and community partners who continue to stand with us. If you have questions or would like to hear more about our current residential, non- residential, and outreach programs, our case management team, Kristy Birchum and Mary Catherine Kelley, are happy to speak with you.

We will remain steadfast, focused on our mission, grounded in what we believe, committed to what we are doing, and confident in what God has for this ministry and the people we serve. Above all, we trust God’s continued hand of protection over this ministry.

This has never been, and will never be, about us, this is God’s ministry, and it belongs to Him.
