We Can’t Do This Without You: The True Impact Of Your Support

Have you ever heard the claim, “We can’t do this without you!” and questioned its authenticity?

“Really?” you might think. “I’m sure you can. I’m just one person!”

At Cry Freedom Missions, when we say that our mission would not be possible without the generous donations from our community members, we mean it. Seriously!

The building that is currently the Cry Freedom Missions Shoppe & Cafe on N. Center St. was generously donated to the non-profit. It was an old theater, a relic of the past with worn-out seats, faded paint, and an air of abandonment. We put in so much time, money, and resources to transform it into the beautiful, welcoming brick and mortar it is today. The shoppe sells survivor-made jewelry and beautiful home decor, and every sale goes toward the mission. The shoppe and cafe also provide jobs for the clients who have graduated from our long-term program.

We have heard the rumor that because Cry Freedom Missions has two beautiful brick and mortar stores in downtown Goldsboro, the non-profit must be thriving financially. The reality is that the stores do not generate nearly enough money to support our mission in full. We truly rely on the generous donations and support from our community members.

Where Does All The Money Go? Great Question!

In the spirit of full transparency, we want to share some of the ministry’s financial needs that might not be obvious from the outside looking in:

  • Rescues: Funding for operations to locate and rescue victims of human trafficking.

  • Clients: As you may or may not know, we have people messaging us all the time in their lowest of lows and in pure desperation for help. Sometimes we can’t take clients BUT we don’t want to turn people away. We often sponsor individuals into other programs which cost upwards of $700 per client.

  • Group counseling and therapy: Providing professional counseling sessions for our clients to help them heal emotionally and mentally.

  • Medications: Covering the cost of necessary medications for our clients.

  • Rehabilitation: Comprehensive rehabilitation programs tailored to the needs of survivors.

  • Safe house renovation and repairs: Ensuring our safe houses are secure, comfortable, and up to standard.

  • GED and Peer Support Specialist certifications: Supporting clients in achieving educational and professional milestones.

  • Clothing and hygiene products: Providing essential items to our clients.

  • Food: Ensuring that everyone in our care has access to nutritious meals. Yes, we do have some resources for this, but typically does not cover the full cost.

  • Hired professionals: Paying for the expertise of professionals who support our clients' recovery and development.

  • Lastly, some of the proceeds from the Shoppe go to covering the employees' pay. We need to have some staff to teach the clients their vocational skills for their on the job training.

How Can I Support Cry Freedom Missions?

Like we said, we seriously can’t do this without you. We hope that this blog offers some insight and transparency into what it is like to run and operate a non-profit. If you would like to financially support Cry Freedom Missions, you can donate online at any time through our website. We also have a very exciting event coming up: the Cry Freedom Missions Annual Charity Golf Invitational!

Golf Invitational

This fun fundraising event will take place at 12:30 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Lane Tree Country Club.

All proceeds from the Golf Invitational will go towards the expansion and improvements of the Freedom House, a safe house for survivors of human trafficking. The funds raised from this event will allow us to help more women recover and rebuild their lives. Funds from this will also help us cover some of the cost involved in upfitting the new safe house. In addition to a fun-filled day of golf and networking, your participation will help us reach, rescue, and restore survivors right here in Eastern North Carolina! Whether you sign up to play, sponsor, or volunteer, you can be assured that you will have a direct impact in saving lives! You can sign up here.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for being an integral part of our community. Your support truly makes a difference.

Annual Banquet

Lastly, we want you to save that date and mark you calendars. The annual Goldsboro Banquet will be held at the Maxwell Center October 22 and October 24th at 6PM. This banquet is designed to be more intimate and talk about where we were 2 years ago when we started CFM and where we are today. We want to share stories, testimonies, hardships and praises with you. We hope that you will save the date and be a part of this special event! More information coming soon.
